It was a nice sunny, 30 degree day here so we took the amx and the vette out for a drive. My amx couldnt quite hold its own against my twin turbo vette but it was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Hopefully these will work.

Well... If ya gotta loose, a TT Vette that resides in your own garage is the way to do it! Smiley

The 'vette sounds like a stick...?

Yup the vette still has the stock 4 speed. I did a video showing the turbo setup on it. I will have to look for some pics of the amx and no plans in the near future to turbo the amx, got a ton of work to do on the vette before I think of doing anything else.

Wow!
That looks like some really nice work!

What size turbos are you using?
Does it spool up quickly or is there lag?
If there's lag, does it come on like gangbusters or what?
How much boost are you running?

Very nice work!

I have had the vette on the road since april of 2005. I used rajay 301e flow turbos with .8 exh housings, and they are supposed to support 4-450 hp each. The car is real streetable and I got 14 mpg before I turbo'd it and can still get the same with the turbos if I can behave. The boost comes in around 2500 rpms and I can adjust the boost from 11 to 15 lbs boost. You can get on it a little,as in cruising around town and it acts like a mildly built big block chevy (8.5 comp) but if you go full throttle and count to two (this is from about an idle rpm) the boost guage instantly jumps to whatever you have it set at and it flat goes like a bat out of hell. With a 4 speed trans and 3.08 gears you can be putting along about 1500 rpms in third gear and floor it and when it hits around 2500 (around 65 to 70 mph @ 15 lbs boost) it will burn the tires off and the motor starts bouncing off the rev limiter. I have an msd 6al ignition box and have a 5600 rpm module in it right now. Its not real pretty to look at yet as I am still experimenting with everything and when I get the time to do a total resto on it I will be able to make it alot nicer under the hood such as some nice stainless headers, ect. This weekend I will have to round up some pics of our cars. My son and I are building a 74 javelin for him and its driveable but we still have some finishing up to do. It has a 401 with a 700 trans behind it with a narrowed 8 3/4 dodge rearend with 3.23 gears. Its going to be a sweet car, has a vintage air heat/ a/c system, power windows, electric door locks. We moulded a third brake light into the spoiler which turned out really nice. Hopefully it will get some decent mileage on the road too with the overdrive trans, which incidentally is out of an 89 vette.

Iwill say that the 700 trans is an awfully tight fit in the tunnel.

At least you can say that it does fit.
Of course, I don't have any problem with a little cutting & welding... Wink

I can only hope that:
A) your not married
B) if so, your wife was not driving the vette
That kinda combo, my friend, you would never
hear the end of it! Grin Grin

I am am married, be 25 years the 26th of this month. My son was driving the amx and my daughter was filming. I took some pics of the javelin and the amx today and will get them online somewhere tonight. The wife is kinda scared of the vette now, I told her that it still drives like it used to but just dont go full throttle and hold it there for very long   Wink

Hey thanks, it was a fun day! Ok here are some links for the pics, if I do this right. We used a tilt steering column from a 92 chevy pickup and it worked out really well, almost a bolt in swap. We also used the windshield wiper motor from the pickup so we have the intermittant wiper feature and have plans to add a cruise control and be able to use the cruise setup on the column as well for it.
