Not often that the manufacturer beats Summit and Jegs.
They're still listing the 4199's at $210.

Ordered a set yesterday. I'm not sure I'll be able to get the sheet metal
valve covers on the 360 to fully seal up, even after I had my machinist
even out the flanges on them so that the valve covers sit flat.

I ordered and recieved a pair of these 4199s this past week.I had a set of FEL-PRO rubber valve cover gaskets new in the box for some time now.Last night I went out and got the gaskets to try on the new Edelbrock covers and found that the gaskets don't fit worth a hoot !!! Has anyone else had this trouble?Is there a brand of gasket that fits right?I plan on giving Edelbrock a call this coming week to see what they have to say.

Hmm. The 4199's that I received had a little trouble getting the tabs to fit right,
so I squared them off. SCE gaskets btw.

Using Edelbrock Gas-a-cinch I was able to glue the gaskets to the valve covers
without too bad a fit. I had to squeeze it a little bit to fit within the lip of the flange.
I'm curious to see how well they fit onto the lip of the Edelbrock cylinder heads and
how well they seal up.

The sheet metal covers I currently have leak even after evening out
the flange between the bolt holes. As cool as they look, I'm not happy with oil
dripping down the back of the engine.

Igot a set last week too, and the gaskets didn't fit at all , holes didn't line up or nothing, and when i went to put the covers on ,they didnt line up at all , i use valve cover studs , and bolt pattern was off about the same as the gaskets was. My old covers fall on and off no problem,and the new set of cheap chrome ones do too. so i sent them back.

Well this kind of stinks. The sheet metal covers I have now don't fit worth anything,
and now the Edelbrock Classics that I had years ago possibly aren't the same
anymore.

Guess I'll stop in the garage before Friday and let you guys know how they fit onto
the Edelbrock Alum heads.

Well, worst case, I have a set of AMC to Chevy adapters that I could try, or even get
a hold of the 1 inch spacers and just use stock covers.......

They seem to fit without issue onto the Edelbrock aluminum heads at least. About the only thing I needed to do was to run the bolts through the SCE gaskets to make sure things were all lined up. The SCE's are thicker than the stock replacements Steve

I hope everybody else's bolts up with no problems.

Got to talk to Dave at Edelbrock and he said that their mock up was not bad and maybe need to trim a little off each end of the gasket maybe .050 he said.I've got a pair of Edelbrock gaskets coming and will see if they fit any better than the Fel-Pros.

I got my new valve covers on with no problems.
I bought new fel-pro valve cover gaskets which did not fit the valve covers perfectly.
However, the valve covers fit my stock '69 Iron Heads perfectly. Cheesy

I actually reused the old cork gaskets as they were still in very good shape.
They really look great in the car; dress up the engine bay tremendously on my stock motor.
Very happy with my purchase.
Thanks Edelbrock for supporting AMC's!!
