I had a guy once at a car show drooling over my Yellow Hornet. He told me he had one EXACTLY like it. Swore up and down his was identical.

"Was yours a 304 with a 4 barrel and dual exhaust?"

"Oh yeah! Ordered it like that from the factory!"

"Yours had a 5 speed manual?"

"Yup!! Not many cars had 'em back then!"

"Yours had a console from an '81 Spirit?"

"Oh you could get a console any year! You just had to ask for it!"

About that point I asked if he could come over to my place and talk by my garden. With the manure he was spewing I could have fertilized the entire acreage! Grin

I'm surprised up in Canada you guys couldn't order a '77 Hornet with an '81 Spirit console ( "suddenly it's 1981", was the slogan that accompanied the rare option ) and the 4 bbl and five speed, we sure could here in the States . You just had to fill out the special Area 51 boxes on the order form. Funny though, the salesmen wore white suits and helmets with faceshields you couldn't see through, I just thought it was a promotion for "out of this world" sales prices...

Now that explains why people who went into the back room to sign some forms didn't come back for weeks and couldn't remember anything when they came out! I always thought the forms must have been really long and boring.
