Gremlins are far from aerodynamic, I bet you could run 1/4 second quicker with the same engine/driveline in a same weight Camaro? An AMX isn't much better.

 Wind drag is a big deal, I used to run the Mardi Gras Marathon across the lake Pontchartrain bridge. In that race you're on a straight concrete bridge for 24 miles of the run. If you're lucky and the wind is at you're back, you may qualify for the Olimpics, if the wind is in you're face, you just have a tough day.
 
 Camaros are aero, the windshield is laid back pretty good, Gremlins on the other hand aren't. Anyway, I'm sure you already know all that, and likely just looking for something to bicker about.

 I would think the Hornet would be a definate step in the right direction. You've probably heard me blab about my friend Coleman Roddy who was the Winston Comp champ two consecutive years back in the eighty's. He tried different cars and won the first year in a vette I believe, then switched to a Firebird. During a recent conversation he expressed the thought that he could have been quicker with the previous to todays Camaro or Firebird. You'll rarely see a stone chip in the windshields of those Camaros and Firebirds due the the extreem rake of their windshield. Stones just glance off instead of a direct impact.
 
 Just getting in the slipstreem of one cyclist will reduce the needed work effort to stay there by 25%, and the further back in a paceline the better. In an all out attack the lead cyclist will only put in about 45 pedal strokes at the front which puts them in oxygen debt. While the ones sitting in are quiet comfertable awaiting their turn in the wind. Wind and terrain are the only enemies of a pedal bike, there's no friction to speak of.

Yep, this area has been beat bad the last few (20) years but we are STILL the Motown and still have some muscle.
