One of the more interesting configurations is the "Pontiac-ised" SS ute: Some say it might have been a big seller in the US, but I think you guys are still in love with your trucks?

There was talk before the crash of bringing the ute here. I was anxiously awaiting it. The LS3 Holdens are world class automobiles, but our government is running the show now. I don't understand why our market is so unsophisticated, the last zeta platform coupe was a great car, but sold poorly. The new zeta platform coupe is selling well. The old one was a Holden, not a GTO, and the new one is a Holden, but put Camaro SS on the side and it sells. Muscle car sales are up...regardless of Mustang or Challenger or Camaro. go figure.
Hope you have the chance to get one, should be a nice ride.

Reply #2 - 02/09/10 at 22:08:39 Unfortunately I ended up getting one of these for my wife recently so no new ute for me: Mine is a N/A version, but the one if this photo is a 4.0L inline 6cyl turbo .. 270kw I think? (360HP)

What we get in the states is a 4 liter V6, which way back is derived from the Cologne 2.8 liter V6. I don't think there are any inline 6 cyl available in the Ford line here. But then we don't have utes any more either. Ralph

Must mention that the 5.4L is a 4.6/5.4 Hybrid .. 4.6L DOHC heads fitted to 5.4L block .. std is 290kw (390HP) and the GTs are about 310kw (410HP)
The real star is the turbo 4.0L DOHC engine .. easy 400HP and for a few thousand more there are a plethora of aftermarket tuners ready to get you staring at 500HP. The added bonus is that you can enjoy the benefits of a turbo without feeling like a ricer!
