Lost T/A Concord Found

Everyone knows about the Trans Am Javelins famous in the late 1960's and early 1970's.  What you probably don't know is that there is only one other AMC car to ever run a Trans Am race.  That car is an AMC Concord which was campaigned on the west coast by Buzz Dyer who started racing the Trans Am series in 1970.

I first heard about the location of this car in early 2004.  It wasn't until late 2007 that I was able to actually see it for the first time.  Almost three years later in early 2010 I was finally offered the chance to acquire it.  The car is in roughly the same condition it was last raced over 15 years ago.  The engine is long gone and the tranny is in parts but overall the car is very complete and in excellent shape.

I have a 366 combo that is the pricy route or a normal 360 that is more reasonable.

 Not sure yet.

I'm guessing the 366 is a 401 bore on a 3.28" stroke?

According to the log book it was a 3.49 stroke in a 4.08 bore.  TRACO built it for Penske so who knows how the combo ended up.
I have a TRACO dyno sheet for the engine but it doesnt have the bore and stroke on it.

The crank was most likely a MOLDEX if Penske had it built.  Anyway its long gone now.

Ok, that's your specs for the engine. Thanks for clarifying on what the original specs were.

First off,  Smiley Smiley Smiley Way cool car!, I do have some pictures of it someplace, and saw some racing of it as a kid, [on tape].     Striking is the 77 AMX flares up front and a whole Hornet front end, but raced in 78 and up, was called a Concord Grin Hows the taillights?   Way COOL you have it! ANyone would be proud to have it in their collection, at least I know I would!  No matter the condition, still AMC history. SH

Good for you, no... Great for you. That's cool.
What a neat car, and for any old race car to actually survive is unbelievable.
Can't wait to see more Cool
