clutch ideas

I'm looking for a good street/strip cluch. I'm using a Zoom street strip that no longer holds for gear changes. It holds if I stand on it from a roll or when I dump it for a burnout. I use the clutch and take my foot off the gas for my shifts. I'm too chicken to powershift it lol. The car weighs about 3400#s I'm using a 2.43 first T10 with 4.10 rear.  I'll be doing a lot of street driving with it since my local 1/8th mile is now part of the Missouri.

I'm open to suggestions, even if its about my driving Grin

My opinion, go with a Ram.  Mine is 3200 lb 10 1/2 inch.   I had problems with McLeod clutch, very bad and dangerous problems.  I have heard horror stories about centerforce too.  Centerforce is good if you have to have a light clutch pedal, but not good for high rpm shifting.  High as in stock mopar 440 let alone a screaming solid lifter 390....
When last I went to the Ram website, I got great technical assistance.
Never have heard anything bad about Hays clutches either.
I run the upgraded 300 series street strip disc with Marcel, 301M disc and the Ram 423 pressure plate.
The 428 pressure plate would be an upgrade to a 10.95.
I will probably upgrade the disc to the 901 sintered iron when I get the stroker motor done, but that is a little more extreme for street use and requires a good steel flywheel.

Thanks Ralf, I'll have to check out RAM's website.

I'm not spinning my 390 much past 6200. I'm also running a stock flywheel. I'll try your set up unless you would run something else with my combo? I'd like to think I'm better than 450hp but its a guess lol.

Thanks again for taking the time to post your opinion. Smiley

No problem at all with the stock flywheel and the 423/301M setup.  Other than its a stock flywheel.  The steel flywheel, while always a good idea, as is a scattershield, is only needed if you use the 900 series disc.
