When I first assembled my car I had a leak at the fuel sending unit. I dropped the tank and installed a new O-ring and I thought I had it beat. Well the first time I filled the tank it leaked. Fast forward to today and I dropped the tank again. I cleaned and prepped both surfaces tweaked the ring that holds the sender in so it was nice and tight and the thing still seeps at the sender. Anybody have any tips? I really don't want to have to lower the tank yet again.

Thanks JP, i`ve tried thst stuff already. I was wondering if there was an RTV type product that is safe around fuel that will help with the minor shape differences.

You are killing me so what did JP tell you to use that did not work?
Was it something fire people (got to be pc )use to seal tanks if they get leak in an accident?
IIRC the "O" ring is not round but square. Could you bend the tank where the ring sits out a little to make the seal tighter?

Dave, I was simply tellin Tony to make sure the ring wasnt gettin kinked during install and the tabs were adjusted so it was tight. No trade secrets were passed on in hiding.....

Do you think it could be a hole near the sender assy. And not the rubber seal?
The lock ring fits into another ring that is spot welded to the tank, what if that ring pulled 1 of the spot welds and left a little hole? This would look like a bad seal.
I had a valve cover on a Dodge 318 that kept leaking by one of the outer back bolts. After pulling for the 4th time I look really close and found the washer that is part of the bolts cut the cover. When you took up on the bolts it opened up that cut and would leak but could hardly see it when cover was off.
Guess it needs to come back down to check so do you look for a new tank or try again to fix this one?
