got the engine painted and just assembling the accessories....here's the stock 304 (with the stock air cleaner, stock holley, and stock distributor)

kennie told me I had to lighten up the car, so i took off the metal valve cover tag and replaced it with cardboard

I ground off the block tag

replaced it with a cardboard one

I figure I saved almost 1/2 oz....

if I can't find my freeflows, then I just have to run the log style, I assume my spare machine ones will fit

I think I did a good job on the "franken-pan"...not as good as lonnie 's or '77s, but it holds oil...

should have it all dressed and ready for the engine bay this weekend.

zoom-zoom  Cheesy Grin

ps I'm not the painter in the family, or the mechanic, or the clever kid, or the...err, um, i forget where I was going with this....oh, right, the paint job, i call it "best effort"

um, er, does that mean I have to bring my crossbow and arrows too??? wait, what????

I can't figure out how to edit my posts the way you do JP, so I'll print a retraction here....I screwed up....all that work losing that 1/2 oz of weight on the engine and kennie actually said I have to lose weight, not the car, my bride said I should eat salads....I said thats not food, thats what food eats  Cheesy Grin

btw JP....I'll sell you that Stock air cleaner on my 304 in the picture for $1400....it'll save me from protecting it from bigbadjav trying to steal it all the tyme....I had to install camera's out back

Oh man u seen that too. These detail guys can get so so analystic , ( then compare that to the detail on the new tags ) like I appreciate the detail and the effort and then I tell them I paint all my engines black . Like all AMC FORD Chebby what ever . Talk about Homer simpson stares  and blinks .
On another note , Plans are going well for GAD ..77.

Mine were NOS until this year, I actually had to shovel the walk here a couple of times this year so now it's a "good used" one.
