Clutch diagram anyone?
11/25/11 at 15:11:56

Does anyone have a good diagram of a 72 Javelin clutch? I was going through the APD catalog and noticed a bunch of little washers and things that I don't recall pulling out of mine...

Are you talking about the linkage or the disc/pressure plate?
There might be washers on the linkage that go on before the clips or cotter pins go in? If so would think thin spring type?
There should be lock washers used on the PP bolts.
Only washers I can think of used on any AMC.

That's what I thought, but the APD catalog shows these weird wavy washers and says their for the throwout bearing. Mine didn't have anything like that when I tore it apart.

What does the TSM say or show? I have never seen on any car/truck, AMC or not, washers used on the TO bearing??
I could check my TSM but it is for a 70 Javelin but dont remember any thing like that when I was doing my clutch for the T5 swap from T10

I don't have a TSM. I've never seen washers of any kind on a throwout either.

I think there is a 73 TSM on the web to see if that list any thing. IIRC the 70 - 74 setup is the same? Maybe reach out to Pipefitter as he was working on 71 on up Javelin (sons car) and he may have a TSM to check. I would say if it is working now I would keep using it the way it is but still look if someone else knows.

I know which illustration you're talking about in the APD website. I don't know where it goes and didn't use it in my cars (I've put T-10s into two cars). You can always call Doug and ask.

Probably. I seem to pretty much remember some spring washers used to tighten up the clutch bellcrank rod that engaged the arm coming out of bellhousing. Seems like they went between rod and bellcrank itself to tighten up the pin clearance.
