Correct Rebel Machine Oil Dipstick Color
02/12/12 at 15:01:19

I've had my machine since 1986. As far as I know the 390 has always had the same oil dipstick, which is orange. Appears to be the original color, not repainted. Seems other 1970 dipsticks are yellow.

Did AMC use orange for quickly identifying the Machine 390 or is mine the wrong color?

REALLY??? never heard of such a thing...

I've owned 3 machines and 5 machine engines since 1978 and they've all been amc blue dipsticks

i'd be interested if anyone else can back this up....that would be just weird....someone on the assembly line was "bored"????

Were the dipsticks in your engines the 'P' shaped top or the 'O' shape that is centered on the stick?

Mine is 'O' shaped.

If you are referring to the little plastic plug at the end of the top hoop, I have some that are orange plastic and some that are yellow plastic. The metal part is painted the color of the block.

ok, now i see what you are talking about...

the yellow one is from your friendly local chrysler dealer (I have 4 of them.)

the blue one with the orange tip is factory original...

at least thats how I know it.
