V8 aluminum oil pans? (Read 6711 times)

How heavy did it turn out compared to a steel pan, is it heavier? and is that pan gonna take a hit or even a hard scrape....??? And you obviously have some good fabricating skills and the drive to do it, so why not an aluminum sheet metal pan?

It is MUCH heavier than original! But it looks million times better than it never would... Cheesy

It is made of the same alloy than this "aluminium man" makes race car wheels! And walls are at least 1/4 "!

This professional (retired) "aluminum man", who lives close to me, has done almost everything that can be made of aluminium... I asked if he could cast some gasser wheels or AMC blower intake... No problem! Only if I can fabricate a suitable pattern for him... I have known him over 25 years, but never before asked him to do something for me and my projects! What a fool I´ve been! Have to go to my garage and hit my head with sledgehammer!! Twice!!

I think you could sell a ton of them!
I like your "not taking no for an answer" attitude. All to often AMC'ers stop looking if a part isn't listed in a national parts book. I've had plenty of parts made for AMC that were not in a catalog or sometimes they carry the part but just didn't put it in the catalog.
Why don't you cast a matching air cleaner lid that is embossed with the AMC script or something? With finned Offenhauser or Edelbrock valve covers it would look awesome!

Tomorrow I´ll take it to the machining shop. It gives 2 liter more oil volyme, compared with original Jeep oil pan... It means 1/2 gallons...
