Rebel Machine Driveshaft Length
04/03/16 at 22:58:02

Swapping my M12 for a T-10. It looks like the distance from the transmission mount to the end of the tailshaft is the same on both the M12 and T-10. I'm guessing the driveshaft for both it the same length. Is that true?

Thanks,
-Steve-

The parts book shows two different part numbers, 70 390 Rebel, 4 speed vs auto. But, they call it an assembly which I suspect may have included the front yoke. I believe the 4 speed & M12 yokes are different.

Have to give it a try & let us know.

I believe it is the yoke.  The M12 would have a fine spline yoke, the T10 would be coarse spline.

Actually it's the other way around. The M12 has the square splines and the T-10 (and M11B) have the pointed splines.

If you aren't in a real hurry I'll dig out one of my Machine 4-spd drivelines and measure it.  It'd take me a couple weeks......

I had to order a new T-10 yoke because the one I had was in pretty sad shape. Hopefully I'll have it Friday and get it installed on the original driveshaft this weekend.

If you happen to have time to measure yours that would be a plus.

Thanks,

Got the new T-10 yoke installed on the original driveshaft and installed the assembly in the car, it fits just as it did with the automatic transmission.

It's a safe bet the driveshaft length doesn't differ between the T-10 and M12.

BTW: The new yoke is a really nice piece. Got it from APD.

Good to know!
The same (4 speed) driveshaft worked in my Machine when I swapped in the 5 speed. Just had to change the front yoke to a Ford C4 yoke.
